UHPLC will support HPLC analyses

Excellent performance up to 140 MPa system pressure

Stable solvent delivery is realized for a broad range of pressure, as high as 140 MPa, by incorporating a new control technology (LBT: Liquid Beat Technology) into the Binary pump. Even for gradient analysis under high pressures, highly reproducible analyses are available. Moreover, ultra fast analyses are supported by improving the gradient response using an extremely low system volume.

Stable solvent delivery allows a broad range of analyses from UHPLC to HPLC

Stable solvent delivery is realized, independent of pressure and solvent composition, by incorporating LBT control and by correcting the bulk modulus of solvent. Stable analyses are achieved with 5 µm columns, 3 µm columns, and 1.9 µm columns.

High resolution

It has been generally accepted that high resolution analyses of impurities and structural analogs of synthetic compounds, such as medicines and chiral molecules, are challenging, even with UHPLC. Now, however, the newly developed high resolution column, LaChromUltra II, designed for UHPLC applications with system pressures up to 140 MPa can achieve more advanced separation analyses and industry-leading performance.

High sensitivity

A total reflection type capillary flow cell is incorporated into the diode array detector to cope with the increasing need for high sensitivity analyses of hazardous substances, genotoxic impurities, etc.

A high sensitivity flow cell with an optical path length of 65 mm is also available. In addition to high sensitivity analyses, carryover is reduced through the use of a double corkscrew mixer.

The Hitachi Chromaster 5610 is a new mass detector, designed for HPLC users, that is different from a large-scale mass spectrometer.

For Improved Analysis Reliability!

There is an increasing need for mass spectrometry data to improve analytical accuracy or to compensate for the inexact analysis that standard HPLC detectors provide.

However, unlike HPLC detectors, mass spectrometers often require special site preparation for installation and highly skilled personnel for operation and maintenance, making it difficult for laboratories to justify one even when it could be an ideal solution.

The Chromaster 5610 is the solution for HPLC users who have refrained from introducing a mass spectrometer due to (1) site requirements, (2) usability, and (3) maintainability, which are typical barriers.

Compact tabletop design! Ideal footprint for any HPLC laboratory

  • With its space-saving compact design, the footprint is equivalent to that of a HPLC system.
  • The N2 gas usage has been reduced (maximum flow rate of 3.4 L/min). The system can be operated with a N2 gas cylinder.
  • Can be connected to an existing HPLC (Please inquire about the compatibility).

Instrument and method settings

Ease of use is achieved by eliminating complicated MS settings for those new to mass analysis.

The Chromaster 5610 is equipped with an auto-tuning function to provide optimized instrument conditions for HPLC users who are unfamiliar with the operation of mass spectrometers.

Measurement Results

Functions such as the contour display allow the verification of an overall chromatographic elution pattern. The user interface resembles that of a PDA detector so operations are as simple as using HPLC detectors.

Maintainability Equivalent to optical HPLC Detectors


When reduced sensitivity or contamination is suspected, the atmospheric-pressure ion filter can be removed for easy cleaning.

As the vacuum pump can keep running while the filter is being cleaned, the measurements can be started immediately after the maintenance.

System Features

Optional units mounted inside provide clean appearance

All principal options, including a degasser, gradient unit, and sample cooling system can be mounted inside the main body.

It is not necessary to make room for optional units.

Front access layout for improved operation and maintenance

Every module can be accessed and handled from the front. Since connections are arranged on the front side, it is easy to replace columns and manipulate the flow system. To support easier maintenance, the lamp and cell unit can also be accessed easily.

Leak sensors in all modules

Any leakage in the flow system is detected by leak sensors built into each module. After detection the system halts, ensuring improved safety and reliability.

Complete control with system manager

A control panel is not necessary, as everything can be controlled via the system manager. By installing a UI-pad (optional), each module can be controlled separately, in a conventional manner.

e-Line and USB

The e-Line is an advanced version of the existing D-Line. All modules are connected by an e-Line in a single chain, and all the communications are integrated. The use of digital signals improves the reliability of data transactions. The interface between the PC and equipment is via versatile USB. A wide range of PC types are supported, enabling flexible configuration.

GLP function

A Hg lamp is installed in the detector, and wavelengths in the UV range can be calibrated using its emission line (254 nm) (installed in the Primaide 1410 UV / 1430 DAD). Each module stores various types of quality assurance information, for improved data reliability.
